I have always believed that the most meaningful change begins by listening.
Whether sitting with families in the jungles of Guatemala, learning from communities across Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia, mentoring students, or collaborating with leaders across Texas, my life's work has been shaped by a simple conviction: every person has a story worth understanding. And our greatest challenges in this world require our greatest conversations.
For nearly two decades, I have served in leadership roles across nonprofit organizations, higher education, and public service. My career has spanned communications, enrollment management, academics, organizational leadership, and statewide policy, but the mission has remained remarkably consistent—to help people and organizations reach their highest potential. From leading communications efforts for international humanitarian work to serving universities across Texas and ultimately leading statewide initiatives through The University of Texas System, I have been privileged to build partnerships, strengthen institutions, and create opportunities that expand access to education and improve healthcare for communities throughout Texas.
Today, as Executive Director of the Texas Health Education Service, I work alongside universities, policymakers, healthcare leaders, and educators to strengthen the state's health professions workforce through innovation, collaboration, and system-wide leadership. Together, we have modernized statewide admissions systems, expanded educational pathways, strengthened public policy, and built partnerships that will benefit future generations of healthcare professionals.
My leadership philosophy has been shaped as much by listening as by leading. Through graduate study in higher education and history, doctoral work in Learning and Organizational Improvement at Vanderbilt University, and years spent studying organizational behavior, I have become convinced that sustainable transformation rarely begins with having the right answers. It begins with asking thoughtful questions, understanding people's experiences, and creating environments where talented individuals can thrive, learn, and lead.
I am endlessly curious about people—their journeys, what motivates them, how organizations shape behavior, and how shared purpose can bring diverse groups together to solve complex challenges. That curiosity continues to shape every organization I serve.
Above all, I hope to leave every institution stronger than I found it by empowering others, building enduring systems, and creating opportunities that improve lives for generations to come.
